As we’ve been doing these last years, this summer we sprinkled with art our guests’ holidays with two exhibitions by artists who’ve made Ibiza their home: María García de Leonardo and Davey Brown.
Music and sea, the big stars of Ibizan summers, featured in both exhibitions hosted by Las Mimosas in September, with a view to giving our guests and visitors the chance to discover and buy the paintings of these two artists connected to the island. Because once we’re on holiday and we’ve let go of the stress, all senses are freed and the interaction between art and observer flows smoothly.
Las Mimosas 2025: artists and exhibitions
The French champagne producers Perrier Jouët sponsored the exhibition of Valencia-born artist María García de Leonardo, whose abstract textured work revolves around sea landscapes. This painter uses sand, marble, mica and other building materials to give texture to her art, where the Mediterranean is shown as an aerial view overflowing with light and textures. This exhibition was opened on 12 September with the presence of the artist and a welcome glass of Perrier Jouët champagne along with a live DJ set.
On the other hand, on 18 September, we opened The Kings of House and Soul exhibition by Davey Brown, who lives between Newcastle and Ibiza. Specialising in monochromatic pop-art portraits, many celebrities from the sports and TV world have bought his paintings, mostly devoted to football players, boxers and music and film legends. In fact, he’s the creator of the “Legends of Café Mambo” collection. During the opening, the artist chatted to visitors while they also enjoyed a live DJ set mixed by DJ Paul Riseley and DJ Ben Young.
